Acclimatising musicians!

I am looking to set up a fortnightly ‘play’ with people who are ready & want to play with other musicians, but don’t necessarily feel comfortable going to jam at a pub yet! (It can’t be just me, can it?!!) Alison Cooper seeks souls with a desire to explore their musical aspirations.

WASPI women are buzzing…

Women of a certain age throughout the UK are gearing up for new careers as political campaigners and activists. Hastings is no exception to this groundswell of female unrest and has an active group of go-getting women, intent on righting an injustice of which many people are unaware. Sandra Morris is one of them, and sets out their case here.

Essential measures to improve the quality of the water travelling through Alexandra Park, Hastings have now been completed after a two year programme of innovative ecological and engineering integration.

Time To Shine

On Friday 23 September a group of service users from Seaview, a local centre supporting marginalised individuals within the community, will be at the Masonic Hall in St Leonards singing their hearts out with a live band of West End musicians, in a show that promises to be a truly inspiring experience. None of them have taken on such a challenge before, but with the help of The Time to Shine Project, they intend to face their fears and give their audience a night to remember! Zelly Restorick speaks to Alison Cooper to find out more.

HOT update on solar, salt water and wind energy

Some interesting updates in the alternative energy sphere: osmotic power, solar powered flight and solar bike power, wind power in Scotland, plus some info on a new solar panel roof design. Fascinating to see how those involved in the creation of alternative sources of energy are using their brain cells and the inspirational ideas they’re coming up with – and inspiration for those of us who would like to see more renewable energy sources. Envision an eco-coastal town that produces all its own energy. Zelly Restorick brings us up to date on developments in this exciting – and essential – area.

Funding opp for Hastings & St Leonards

Recently, local graphic designer, Sarah Macbeth, posted details online via Hastings Creatives of a funding opportunity seen as “a challenge to communities to work together to put culture at the centre of their local plans”. “Could be good for Hastings and St Leonards?”, Sarah wonders. Zelly Restorick writes.

2 Minute Beach Clean

Got two minutes? Then why not make a difference with a two minute beach clean. #2minutebeachclean is a project that was started in Cornwall by Martin Dorey and is rapidly sweeping across the world. And it’s good to see that Hastings has now adopted the scheme writes Zelly Restorick.
