Hastings – High-Tech Hotspot!

t is not well known that Hastings plays host to a cluster of high-tech companies in the ultra-high vacuum/photonics and optics field  and, to promote and raise awareness of this, a free exhibition and conference, Tec66, is being organised at Hastings’ spanking  new conference facility, the Sussex Exchange, on Monday 16 September 2013. HOT’s Chris Cormack reports on the jobs prospects for Hastings youth.

Mostly Fish: Gaius Bell at Gill Gallery

Give a man a fish, the saying goes, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you get rid of him for a whole weekend. Teach a man to paint fish, and you get a vibrant, colourful show! HOT reporter Cathy Simpson attended the private view at Gill Gallery.

Vulcan to woo crowds over Hastings

The last Avro Vulcan V bomber in flightworthy condition, XH558,  is due to strut its stuff in the air above the seafront this Saturday, 15 June, at about 3.30pm. It may be the last year that this display can be seen unless  enough donors can be found to keep it in the air for another two years as planned, writes HOT’s Chris Cormack.

Expect an evening of pure entertainment with their brand new tale, ‘Harlequin Goes to the Moon’, which contains all of the usual ingredients that make their shows so entertaining.

Knocking your head against a brickwall

The sound of heads knocking against brick walls

In response to the planning permission application for The Gateway Road, one of the link roads to the Bexhill Hastings link road, I took the initiative to go and speak to local residents, writes HOT’s Zelly Restorick, to ask how they feel about the current and long-term development programme of roads, housing and business centres.
