Your journey into space starts on Hastings Pier
Sam Aitken tells us how you can launch your journey into space by visiting Hastings Pier between Thursday 31 August and Tuesday 4 September!
On Thursday 31 August, the UK Space Agency arrived in Hastings with their “Space for Everyone” rocket tour. It’s not every day that a giant space rocket is delivered to Hastings Pier! (Video clip by Darragh O’Leary who could not believe his eyes).
The event is a STEAM Outreach Programme with a mission to inspire the next generation to pursue careers in the UK space industry, particularly those from under-represented groups. Entry is free and is open to anyone and everyone. No tickets required – just turn up!
The event sponsors include Imperial College, UKRI, Science & Technology Facilities Council, and the UK Space Agency. The central message of the show is that, as well as being an astronaut, there many employment opportunities in the space industry, and young people should come to the exhibition to find out more about a future in space.
Event features include:
– A colossal 72 ft replica of the LauncherOne rocket
– Virtual reality experiences
– Careers advice from local space professionals
– Space-related activities
For more information visit the website. Visiting the event via a “Group Tour” is highly recommended. You can book a timeslot for your group by sending a message to hello@ha-lo.co with preferred date and time.
