Free film and theatre workshops for young people in St Leonards
Prometheus Productions and Limitless Creative are collaborating on a film and theatre workshop project aimed at young people from the age of 11 to 18 years old. Cath Tajima-Powell from the Clifton Community Centre spoke to HOT’s Erica Smith about this exciting opportunity for young people.
Starting on Tuesday 30 May, the after-school sessions will run weekly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4 to 6pm. The young people will learn skills including: scriptwriting, film production and post-production and theatrical acting and performance. The sessions are completely free and all coaches are fully DBS checked.
Cath says, “The aim is to bring out the talent of the young participants and present a showcase for their friends and family to see what they all achieved in the six weeks. Tuesday evenings will focus on theatrical acting and Wednesday evenings will focus on film production. The tutors have a broad base of experience – both professionally and working with young people. This course really is a great opportunity for any young person to gain a multitude of skills.”
One of the course coaches is award winning film maker Francis Saunders. Francis is a professional actor and film maker with years of experience. His motto is “nothing is impossible – with the right mind set and support you can become anything”.
The sessions will take place at, The Clifton Centre, in Stainsby Street, St Leonards on Sea and will be conducted by Frances Saunders (Prometheus Productions) and Jamie De’Ath (Limitless Creative).
