1066 Walking Festival
The 1066 Walking Festival will take place from Saturday 13 May to Sunday 21 May across 1066 Country. Organised by Visit 1066 Country Marketing in partnership with Active Hastings and Rother, the 1066 Walking Festival offers nine days of guided urban and country walks to suit all abilities. Tracey Hobden, HBC communications manager, writes.
The Walking Festival is an excellent way to explore the area, bring people together and get some great exercise! Walking is a fantastic way to get – and stay – healthy, as it’s easy to fit into everyday life by walking to work and to the shops, etc. And people who walk tend to keep it up.
Walking is already one of the most popular physical activities: it’s open to everyone and is perfect for people who have poor health or don’t fancy intense exercise.
The 1066 Walking Festival includes short walks for the whole family, pushchair and wheelchair routes, tougher treks lasting several hours and themed wildlife and history walks.
Contributors to the festival programme include Battle, Bexhill, Rother and Hastings Ramblers, Hastings Borough Council’s Country Park Rangers, National Trust, Old Hastings Preservation Society, RSPCA Mallydams Woods, Sussex Wildlife Trust and Trust for Conservation Volunteers (TCV).
Some walks require booking and some you can just turn up. For full details about each programmed festival walk visit the Walking Festival website.
