4th of July: Resist Trump
On American independence Day there will be a meeting in Hastings focused on the current political scene in the States. US born local resident, Tamara Stevens will speak about opposition within America to Donald Trump. John Enefer writes.
Since his inauguration in January, the US President has remained a controversial figure and has struggled to implement parts of his policy agenda. Both his attempt to introduce a travel ban on people from majority Muslim nations and his efforts to replace ‘Obamacare’ have run into difficulties. There has been large scale mobilisation of opposition, with opponents of Trump packing out meetings of their representatives, waving green cards to show their approval and red cards to demonstrate their disapproval of statements made.
Tamara Stevens will look at what people in the UK can learn from what is happening in America.
Resist Trump: The meeting, originally planned for earlier in the summer, will now take place on 4 July at the Quaker meeting house, 5 South Terrace, Hastings. The meeting is free and will begin at 7.00 pm. The venue is wheelchair accessible. All are welcome.
