Local energy workshops
Energise Sussex Coast holds monthly training events covering all things energy – from energy in the home, switching suppliers, dealing with damp and mould and renewable energy.
Energise Sussex Coast (ESC) is a community benefit co-operative set up to accelerate the transition to a low carbon future through the development of community owned renewable energy generation projects and energy efficiency schemes.
For more information or to book, please follow these links:
Energy in the home: Thursday 22 February : 10am – 12 noon: An introduction to understanding the energy systems in the home – including metering and billing.
Heat loss and insulation, Thursday 22nd February, 12:30 – 3:00 – includes a walk with a thermal imaging camera: this course looks at how heat escapes from buildings, and what we can do to stop it
Mould and damp in the home: Friday 23 February : 10am – 1pm: This course is aimed at professionals who want to better understand about mould and damp in client’s houses, how to manage and report it and how best to work with households to address it.
Please note the mould and damp course won’t be run again for a long time, as it is an external trainer who will be running it. She is a mould and damp specialist, an excellent tutor and very entertaining so ESC would recommend booking in! The usual price is £45 but if you are an Energy Champion it is free!
Slow cooking workshop: 1 March : 10am – 2pm: Join ESC for a free half day workshop to learn about the benefits of slow cooking, get money and energy saving tips and take home a free 4.5L slow cooker and recipe cards. (NB. Due to funding restrictions, this is for residents of North East Hastings only.)
Home energy workshop: 8 March : 10:30 – 12:30pm: In this free workshop, ESC explain the different parts of a fuel bill, different types of meters and how to read them. You’ll learn how electricity is measured and charged, how to switch suppliers and why renewable energy is the future. (NB. Due to funding restrictions this is for residents of North East Hastings only.)
Principles of renewable energy generation: Thursday 29 March : 10am – 12:30pm: Learn about the different renewable technologies, how they work – and the local possibilities for community energy.
Please check the events page of Energise Sussex Coast’s website as we regularly add more training dates and energy events.
Short interactive workshops
Energise Sussex Coast also receives funding which enables us to come and deliver training to staff and volunteers in local workplaces and community organisations, so let them know if you’d like them to come and run a short interactive session on how to keep homes affordably warm and healthy.
