Fipple Consort – free concert
The Fipple Consort is a group of adults from Hastings who love playing recorders. Some have been playing since childhood, whilst others have come back to this beautiful instrument over the past year after a break of many years. The group’s Chris Green reports.
We’ve been meeting since September 2014 and building up a repertoire ranging from early music to modern arrangements of well known pieces. These include The Nutcracker Suite and The Entertainer.
Other pieces have been written by modern day composers especially for the recorder. All our repertoire uses recorders in harmony: sopranino, descant, treble, tenor and sometimes bass, which one of our players is now working on.
Our free concert on Saturday 8th August at St. Clement’s Church, Croft Road, Hastings Old Town, 12 noon – 1pm has a varied programme of early music, modern pieces, traditional French folk tunes, Tango dance music and arrangements of well known Classical pieces, all for recorder quartet/quintet.
There is also a craft fair in the Church from 11-3pm with tea and coffee available.
St. Clement’s has disabled access and disabled toilets, so all are welcome.
