Return of the Magnificent Sonics

Mondays in March are for Model Making!

The great joy in 1970s households was the cereal packet. Vouchers and gifts could be found inside them, and when you had finished munching their edible contents, there was nothing better to do than cut them up to make models. This is why artist Mark Daniels seized on the opportunity to get involved with the ATownExploresABook22 Art Trail inspired by Rumer Godden’s 1972 novel, The Diddakoi. HOT’s Erica Smith limbers up for a session with scissors and cardboard.

12 Claremont

New life in community use for 12 Claremont

Many have wondered while walking past the elegant 12 Claremont – next door to Hastings Library–what is going to happen to it. It was intended as an extension of the library but that dream rose and fell. Well now, at last, this historic building has been acquired by Heart of Hastings CLT who will bring it back to life as a Community hub. Lauris Morgan-Griffiths went along to the celebration of its successful acquisition to learn more.

Crowdfunder goes live for testing of local sea waters

Faced with the dumping of raw sewage in the sea by Southern Water, and the Environment Agency’s inadequate testing regime, Hastings and St Leonards Clean Water Action have launched a crowdfunder to pay for independent tests in the winter months. HOT’s Chris Connelley dips his toe into murky waters.
