Katherine Reekie is an extremely talented fine artist, living and working in Hastings, an environment she feels is rich in contrasts and eccentricities and the inspiration for much of her work. HOT’s Zelly Restorick asked her about her latest exhibition, Monumental, at Hastings Arts Forum in St Leonards on Sea.

Back in Hastings by popular demand! Following a successful three night run at the Kino Teatr in St Leonards in Autumn 2017, Stage Left Project have been asked to take their production of Bernstein’s ‘Trouble in Tahiti’ to the prestigious Bernstein in Chichester Festival in September 2018. The company will be reprising the production in Hastings before taking it to the home of the Chichester Psalms, written by Bernstein on a trip to the city in 1965.
‘Celebrating unity through voice and sacred sounds’, the Sounding Cosmos II – Sacred Sound Bath event offered by Carolina Baranski and Maa Shaker was as soothing and healing as they promised. The hall at St John’s Church in St Leonards was filled with participants, who happily surrendered themselves to the powerful vibrations and healing sounds of these skilled practitioners. Celebrating the wonderfully diverse culture of Hastings and St Leonards. The Hastings Bengali Forum held their summer festival at the White Rock Theatre in Hastings on Monday 20 August 2018.
The local annual arts festival, Coastal Currents, launched on 31 August – and continues through to the end of September.
Joining the growing number of great local eateries, Sea Kale opened earlier this year on London Road, just moments from the promenade in St Leonards on Sea. The brain child of Emma and Matt Kennard-Bowen, Sea Kale celebrates seasonal, local produce in a calm, vintage environment. A. Vasudevan spoke to the couple to find out more about their venture.
