Heather Harding Rises to BBC’s Big Painting Challenge

Heather Harding, a St Leonards artist, is currently appearing in BBC1’s The Big Painting Challenge on Sunday evenings at 6pm. Sophie Bradbury explains.

1 March – 2015 Piano Concerto Competition

The 2015 competition runs from February 28th to March 7th in Hastings, East Sussex, and sees young pianists from 30 different countries compete across four stages, culminating in a thrilling final with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra. Participants and spectators of the Hastings Musical Festival are invited to send in comments and photos.

28 February – 2015 Piano Concerto Competition

This is the first short film, made by Oscar Nominated Director Mike Figgis, from the 2015 Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition. Another film will come soon which will show a range of performances from Stage One of the Competition. Participants and spectators are invited to send us their comments and pictures on any aspect of the Hastings Musical Festival, for publishing in the diary, writes  Chris Cormack.

South Saxons Wetlands a new battlefield

Open space is at a premium in West St Leonards – one reason why local residents are up in arms in opposition a proposed new housing development on the South Saxons Wetlands. There are other reasons too, as Bernard McGinley reports.  An Open Day will be held by West St Leonards Community Association on Monday 2 March.
