HAF auction raises £6,500
The Hastings Arts Forum auction on Saturday 22 February was a great success, raising valuable funds of £6,500 from the sale of 166 lots. HOT reporter Siobhan O’Hanlon sampled the atmosphere at the three-hour event, and afterwards spoke to some of those present.
Urgent national road policy consultation
According to the Campaign for Better Transport, the government plans to spend £30bn on building 190 new roads nationwide. If you think it’s not the right time for this, writes HOT’s Zelly Restorick, let the government know – urgently. The deadline for responding is Wednesday February 26.

Look up at Hastings’ unseen architectural gems
When was the last time you stopped and looked up at the buildings around you in Hastings? That’s the aim of ‘Hastings Look-Up’, an architecture and photography project that wants to get people to look up and see what is around them, writes HOT’s Chris Cormack.
Brede ‘Giants’
On Saturday (earlier this month) a brief window of bright sunny weather opened in the morning, so we jumped through it and headed out to Brede – the restored steam engines at the old Waterworks only operate on the first Saturday of each month and on bank holidays. As the first Saturday of March is coming up, Hastings Battleaxe recommends a visit.
