Following on from The Big Jam Project, Hastings artist, Laurence Poole, will be exhibiting his latest collection of assemblage sculptural works at Trinity Art Gallery in Hastings. The exhibition, called ‘A Congress of Curiosities’, includes HAL the NostalgiaBot, a man-sized robot with a TV head and plasma ball hands! Hot reporter, Joe Fearn has seen a preview and was very impressed. HAL’s body is constructed from a guitarist’s amplifier with a television for a head, which will be playing Dalek movies and old episodes of ‘Monkey'(!).
Work on the Bexhill to Hastings Link Road (BHLR) is due to start in January 2013 and exploratory trenches are already being dug at the Combe Haven site. However, for those who feel it isn’t an ideal time in humanity’s history for over £100 million to be spent on a road, there is still time to campaign. Keeping alive the tradition of twin towns, 14 members of Hastings Urban Bikes (HUB) journeyed to The Netherlands for a long weekend between September 14 to 18 where they were welcomed and accommodated by members of the Dordrecht Touring Club de Mol. Richard Hull went along for the ride (and the Dutch beer).
