Enjoycation: Education, but not as you know it!

A trio of Hastings teachers has started teaching lessons of a new kind. With a total of over 80 years Primary School teaching in local schools between them, Paula Radice, Mark Ridings and Alison Day are providing home-educated children with a weekly opportunity to learn alongside other children and to experience activities that encourage their collaborative, thinking and learning skills.

Moaning and Shopping

Hello Darlings, I’ve been giving some thought to these missives. You see, nobody likes a moaner. I think it’s very easy to moan and who wants to be happy anyway? More to the point, if you’re happy, what is there to moan about? And if there’s nothing to moan about then why be happy? But imagine you have everything you possibly desired. Just think about it… just the thought of it gives you a little kick, doesn’t it? That might be dopamine doing its thing.

Nurturing, nourishing naturism

At Tim Crook’s January Bavard Bar, held in St Leonards’ Kino-Teatr, Keith Palmer was one of the three speakers, whose mission is to inspire and interest the audience about their passion for 15 minutes followed by a Q&A. The title of Keith’s talk was ‘The Birthday Suit: how styles have changed,’ and his passion is naturism, especially naked rambling with the group, Stark Trekkers. Zelly Restorick writes.

There are many myths that the beneficiaries of neo-liberal capitalism like to peddle about the Thatcher years. The most frequent is that economic growth was much better under Thatcher and she enabled the UK to ‘catch up’ with other capitalist economies. However, it is time to look afresh at the 1970s.
