Spoken Word and Images from Idle Eye

Straight from the weirder heart of, that there London, comes Idle Eye presenting a brand new event for Hastings: Broken Biscuits. Broken Biscuits is an evening of spoken word, music, poetry, and films. Featuring David Quantick, Idle Eye, Kate Tym with short films from Dan Laidler and music from the ever eclectic ‘The Ingrid Pitt Orchestra’.

Free summer Stade Saturdays

Yella off-licence application refused

News that the Yella store in central St Leonards was seeking a licence to sell alcohol aroused widespread protests from local residents. In the event the application failed, as Bernard McGinley reports.

New dementia singing clubs across East Sussex

Dementia Support East Sussex, which promotes communal singing as a tool for helping dementia sufferers break through their isolation, has extended its activities with the formation of several new clubs across the region. Nick Terdre reports.

Consultation on university closure

The local higher education campaign group is to host a public consultation on the threatened closure of Hastings university campus. It will be held on Friday 10 June from 2 to 6pm at the Observer Building, when scores of attendees are expected to discuss the past, present and re-imagine the future of the University of Brighton campus in Hastings.
