When will we learn…?
…that our mental health and physical health systems are intrinsically inter-linked and inter-connected – and are not separate, as our UK health provider suggests by having two independent services? HOT’s Zelly Restorick writes.
In some ways, our health system service is surely operating on an out of date paradigm. Our mental and physical systems function in tandem, not independent of one another.
Surely it is time to take what this system has taught us – through specialism, concentration and focus on the individual parts of our bodies and minds – and move forward to a new era based on an up-to-date belief and understanding of the holistic model?
Bigger picture
And consider and be aware that we are all deeply inter-linked within the wider web of connection, where everything and every one of us is inter-linked and entangled.
When I am under the weather, either mentally or physically, I automatically seek the source within my own sphere of life: my hormones, my diet, my hydration level, my nutrition, my age, etc etc… yet I am forgetting the vital knowledge that I am part of a much bigger picture, am made of porous material and am not vacuum-packed and separate from the external world – and that there are a myriad of factors – known and unknown – that affect each and every one of us every second of our lives.

There are several free,(my favourite price), on-line courses on “Futurelearn” relating to health and well-being, which I can thoroughly recommend. This is quality education we can access now.
