Nana Tsiboe, RIP

On Tuesday morning one of Hastings great men passed away. Percussionist Nana Tsiboe was born in Ghana. As a boy, he visited the United States with his family at the height of the civil rights movement in the ’60s and met Martin Luther King, Muhammad Ali and Malcolm X. For over thirty years Hastings was his home. Erica Smith pays tribute to a talented and well-loved man.

Care for the Carers raises £1,365 on Bluebell Walk

Care for the Carers was delighted to be invited to run the Arlington Bluebell Walk for the first time on Monday 16 May. The charity supports anyone looking after a relative or friend in East Sussex. 

ICO orders disclosure of Town Deal proposals

Local residents should finally get a sight of all the proposals submitted in the Town Deal call for ideas last year following the ICO’s decision requiring Hastings Borough Council to publish the list it has determinedly kept under wraps. Nick Terdre reports.

‘The Dinosaur On Your Doorstep’ and half term fun at our local museum

Hastings Museum & Art Gallery has been awarded £3,500 through The Royal Society’s Places of science scheme to develop the community project ‘The Dinosaur on Your Doorstep’.

26 May: TUC ‘Hastings Demands Better’ cost of living meeting

The TUC has organised a mobilising meeting in Hastings ahead of the national cost-of-living demonstration in June. Bringing together union leaders, workers and community activists affected by the cost of living crisis, the rally is in Hastings on 26 May at 7pm, under the banner ‘Hastings Demands Better’.
