This Thursday 21 July, award-winning partisan poet Matt Broomfield will visit Hastings’ St Mary’s in the Castle Cafe to perform work from his debut poetry collection. On Wednesday 13 July, at Muriel Matters House in Hastings, Hastings Borough Council voted to support the call for an international treaty to phase out fossil fuels (a ‘Fossil Fuel Treaty’) at its Full Council meeting. The vote was passed with two abstentions (Councillors Pragnell and Edwards) and two votes against (Councillors Marlow-Eastwood and Beaney). Divest East Sussex reports.
Although round 2 of applications to the government’s Levelling Up Fund is under way, Hastings Borough Council (HBC) has decided to hold back its bid until round 3 — assuming there is one.
