Coronavirus statistical update: Few new infections, though vax rates low in Hastings

Bachelor’s Bump pile recommended for planning permission, despite ineligibility

In February the story was that developers up at Martineau Lane/Mill Lane were cocking a snook at the planners of Hastings Borough Council (HBC). Now the Council’s planners are recommending approval of the retrospective application despite the previous one. It looks like unconditional surrender or indulgence by the Council. The Planning Committee meets online on Wednesday 7 April. Bernard McGinley compares cases, often using their last three numbers.

Hastings Easter Festival online

This year, the Hastings Easter Festival will be streaming over three evenings: Good Friday, Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday at 8pm, each for up to an hour with a range of music artists performing, writes HOT’s Vanessa Alves.

Lampedusa Cross to go on display at Hastings Museum & Art Gallery

The Hastings Museum & Art Gallery have recently announced that the Lampedusa Cross will be put on display as part of a major exhibition later this year. The exhibition will convey the experiences of the many refugees seeking haven in the UK. HOT’s Jordan Dixon writes.

Road project still a headache for Sea Change and ESCC

Despite its short length, the Queensway Gateway Road continues to be a major headache for Sea Change Sussex and its client, ESCC. The opening of the temporary link, originally expected in early 2021, is now mooted for August, while the original scheme may only come on stream in July or August 2023, almost seven years behind schedule. Huge public support for Make Park Safer campaign

A petition to make the town’s historic and much-loved Alexandra Park safer by installing CCTV and lighting has gained over 17,000 signatures in just over a week. It was started on Wednesday last week by Claire Noble, whose best friend was brutally attacked there in daylight last June. Emma Harwood reports.
