Help ‘futureproof’ beautiful Fairlight church

Driving along the road to Fairlight, if you didn’t know it was there, blink and you would miss St Andrew’s Church with its majestic tower, historical graveyard and interesting architectural features. Yet this hidden gem is well worth a visit and conveniently located at the highest point of Fairlight in Coastguard Lane, where Fairlight Road and Battery Hill meet – just a 10-minute drive from Hastings and also on the 101 bus route. Success of Bloomsday1066

On 16 June, Bloomsday1066 came to Hastings Library, celebrated with readings from James Joyce’s novel, Ulysses, the events of which took place in Dublin on that day in 1904.

Fraize and Seabrook on tour at Jazz Hastings

FoHP still looking forward after pier sale

When it came last week, the news fell like a bombshell – Hastings pier had been sold to the owner of Eastbourne pier, Abid Gulzar. Despite the massive efforts of the local community, the Friends of Hastings Pier’s bid had been rejected. The Friends, however, are not going away – they intend to continue working to secure the best future for the pier, and are seeking an early meeting with the new owner. Nick Terdre reports.
