This has not been a good month for the town’s green spaces – following council approval for the Queensway Gateway Road last month, contractors working for SeaChange Sussex have felled trees along a wide swathe through Hollington Valley where the road will run. This is an act of environmental vandalism, says Andrea Needham of Combe Haven Defenders.
If you want to have a positive effect on Hastings Borough Council’s planning policies, you should take the opportunity to comment on the Hastings Local Plan which will lay down planning policy guidelines up to 2028. So says artist and local activist Maureen Jarvis, who stresses that the deadline for submitting comments is this Friday, 27 March, at 4.30pm. Nick Terdre reports.
Every year, I post this poster from The Green Blue, telling us how long it takes our rubbish to bio-degrade, writes HOT’s Zelly Restorick. This year’s Bexhill Fairtrade Fashion show was held last Friday at the new Izzard Theatre in Bexhill 6th Form College. This new intimate venue was the ideal place to see fashion up close, writes HOT’s style correspondent Bevali Francis. The evening showcased clothes from Fairtrade fashion companies as well as work made by the students using Fairtrade cotton or recycled materials.
