Local people opposing the planned Bexhill Hastings Link Road are not complying with leader of East Sussex County Council Peter Jones’ suggestion that they ‘shove off!’.  Groups and individuals approaching the issue from a number of different perspectives continue to use their skills and ingenuity to campaign peacefully on behalf of what they value, writes HOT’s Zelly Restorick.

Umbrella Parade is waterproof

Hastings has more than its fair share of festivals and celebrations.  I have never known people more fond of dressing up.  So I suppose the idea of Carnival, with all its implications of costume and general malarkey, was irresistible to the locals.  Think Venetian masks and gondolas, grotesque masks from Cologne’s Faschingszeit or the swaying floats of Rio, writes enthusiastic spectator Antony Mair.

Last Tango in Hastings : Part One

Hastings tango dancers are becoming a common sight, whether it is along the De la Warr terraces or filling up Hastings Museum at night. There are classes on Sundays and Tuesdays and all sorts of other opportunities. Hastings Tango Club are further honoured by having music specially dedicated to them by Hastings own renowned composer, Polo Piatti, to be played as a World premier at the Hastings Museum Valentine Tango event this Friday 15 February, writes HOT’s Chris Cormack.
