Javad update: your support needed
Javad is a young autistic man from Iran, whose life story HOT has been following and sharing with you. Taken in by Terry and Stuart Alexander, nurtured by them and their friends, Javad continues to be threatened by deportation. His case is going to court on Monday – and Terry asks for our counting support. HOT’s Zelly Restorick reports.
Javad wants to stay in the UK. He’s been here for many years. Terry and Stuart have offered him space in their home. He doesn’t claim benefits. He wants to work. Javad, Terry, Stuart, all of Javad’s friends and supporters appreciate your support and request that you make, what might be a final push on his behalf.
“Javad’s court appeal is going ahead this Monday (23 July)”, writes Terry, “at 10am at IAC Hatton Cross, York House, 2/3 Dukes Green Avenue, Feltham, Middlesex TW14 0LS. We would appreciate any support there, should anyone fancy going. (We know it’s a long way and there is no guarantee that he will be heard at that time, but we would love to see you.)
“Javad’s letter saying his fresh claim had been rejected arrived with his old solicitor (who no longer does legal aid) 2 days after the dead line to apply for an appeal. However, they have allowed us to make a late application. The letter saying we could go to court arrived later on in the day when the pre-hearing review had already taken place (admittedly we didn’t need to go to that). They are not allowing his new solicitor to postpone the hearing.
“Thank you all. You have kept us strong by signing and forwarding this petition. We could not do this without you -the response these last few weeks has been overwhelming! Numbers of signings have gone from just under 2,000 to 20,000.
“Do please continue to ask your friends, family and colleagues to sign the petition.
