This Sunday, 7 April, is Bohemia Creative Quarter’s special day in A Town Explores A Book 2024, a community arts festival in St Leonards- on-Sea which runs through the school spring holiday. Gail Borrow explains.

MSL’s new heritage and digital project, Tressell’s Children, is a ground-breaking project that aims to create an immersive museum inspired by working-class experiences in Hastings.
This Thursday 21 July, award-winning partisan poet Matt Broomfield will visit Hastings’ St Mary’s in the Castle Cafe to perform work from his debut poetry collection. Brave Little Sternums: poems from Rojava was written in and about the remarkable women-led, direct-democratic revolution which is flourishing in Syrian Kurdistan. Lee Humphries writes.

If you’re a tree lover you may already know that Hastings has twelve champion trees. A champion tree is the largest of its species in the British Isles. Nine of these are in Alexandra Park. Joan Taylor-Rowan stood under one such tree – an Adpressa yew – with Hastings’ resident and tree expert, Dr Owen Johnson MBE.
In addition to the photography exhibitions reported elsewhere, two new art shows are under way courtesy of Zoom Arts and Zuzishii Art Laboratory.
