Supporting peaceful aims of Hastings Against War

Although Hastings Against War has had to postpone their monthly meeting, it is still possible to support their vision for a peaceful, humane, human world.

UN plea for global ceasefire

Last month the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, issued a plea for a global ceasefire to help fight the spread of Covid-19. This appeal has already led to groups in Cameroon laying down their arms, and has been endorsed by the European Union and Russia.

The Secretary General’s call is gaining momentum among world leaders! If we help spread it even further, we can help get more countries on board to urgently establish life-saving ceasefires in regions that need it most.

Nuclear weapons v NHS spending

The threat of global health pandemics has been on the government’s radar for many years, yet our NHS and frontline staff appear ill-equipped. Contrast the lack of protective equipment with the billions of pounds Britain is spending on nuclear weapons, which do nothing to tackle the threats we face as a nation and as a world.

Save Labour’s Shadow Peace Minister

The Labour Party created a new post in 2016, the Shadow Minister for Peace & Disarmament. Fabian Hamilton MP was appointed to the position on the 8 November 2016.

Let the candidates in Labour’s leader and deputy leader elections know how strongly you feel about retaining this post. It takes just 2-minutes to lobby the candidates using Labour CND’s lobby tool.
