The Big Sleep 2015

Seaview’s Big Sleep coming soon

This will be the second year that people will be sleeping rough at the Stade, raising awareness of homelessness and very necessary funds for the Seaview Project in St Leonards, where staff offer invaluable and vital support to vulnerable people in the community. You can still take part – or sponsor someone who’s actively participating (sleeping rough – even for one night – isn’t for everyone). All contributions gratefully received by everyone involved with Seaview! Zelly Restorick writes.

A gentler experience of homelessness than in reality, methinks – but still a valuable and worthwhile experience. A good night of entertainment has been planned, courtesy of King Size Slim and the Rufus Stone Band, complemented by a soup kitchen and breakfast in the morning. The event was a huge success when held for the first time last year (raising £23,000) – and everyone is hoping that this year will be even better, as homelessness continues to grow.

I asked Sue at Seaview if registration is by computer only? “People can only sign up by computer, though staff at Seaview are happy to help people do this over the phone. We’re not encouraging people to use paper sponsor forms, but if people reach their first target of £25 and release their ticket, then we will send out paper sponsor forms if requested.”

The Big Sleep takes place on Friday 30 September. Look out for another update next week!

Seaview really want to promote this cause and event, so please spread the word!

Specifically, they’d also like to hear from any businesses interested in sponsoring the event – and for one or two companies to sponsor the T shirts and hoodies.

Current sponsors are: Foreshore Trust, Undercliffe House, Half Man Half Burger, Ashdown Hurrey, Stamco, People Lab and Hastings Round Table.
