Noone is too young to join in the National Tree Week events!

Celebrate national tree week by planting a tree

National tree week runs from this Saturday, 27 November, through to Sunday 5 December 2021. This year there is a wealth of events across town from Churchwood Community Orchard to Alexandra Park.

Saturday 27 November: meet at the Churchwood Community Orchard between 11am–2pm to help plant a hedge. Plus activities for families. The orchard is in TN38 9PB – near Church in the Wood, Hollington.

Sunday 28 November: Tree planting in Alexandra Park from 10–11.30 am with Dr Owen Johnson – meet by the bandstand. Events will run through the day with wet weather contingency plans. Check the Facebook page for details, or call 07917 716411 or 01424 852668 for details.

Thursday 2 and Friday 3 December: Apple tree planting in Gensing Gardens
Community groups will plant five apple trees over the next two weeks. Local park users are invited to meet the first two apple trees at noon on Thursday 2 December and talk about plans for the 150th anniversary of Gensing Gardens which will be marked in 2022. The ‘mini-apple orchard’ will be near the junction between Charles Road and Cumberland Gardens road.
