Everyone can draw!
That’s EVERYONE! If you have any doubts, come to Hastings Arts Forum on Saturday or Sunday, October 22 or 23, from 10am to 4pm and give it a try, writes HOT reporter John Cole.
The Big Draw, initiated in 2000 by Quentin Blake, has become the biggest festival of drawing in the world. The festival is for families of any shape or size: children, parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles – really anyone who wants to be involved in a fabulously fun day of drawing, painting and generally making a mess. Everyone is invited, whether you’re a HAF member or not. And it’s FREE!
This year’s Big Draw theme is STEAM — Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths – emphasising the link between art, techology and design and the importance of the arts in education.
Come and experiment with a variety of exciting projects at Hastings Arts Forum, using drawing to design a Victorian pier, a fashionable piece of clothing…. or anything you want to draw! There are no rules and no artistic requirements; in fact the only requirement is to HAVE FUN!
Professional artists, with Big Draw experience, will be on hand to encourage, help and inspire throughout the day and to assist in creating your own original artwork, which will be on display in the HAF galleries for a week.
All art materials will be provided on the day. All you need to bring is your enthusiasm and desire to have fun.
And have I said this already? It’s FREE!
