The end of our Alley Way Learning programme is here and it’s time to celebrate!

Alley Way Learning is coming to the end of its three month pilot offering accessible learning to the local community. HOT’s Erica Smith, who is also part of the Alley Way Learning steering group, invites you to the wrap-up party next Tuesday, 10 December from 1–4pm at the Observer Building.

Hair-braiding workshop

Through the autumn, Alley Way Learning delivered over ten workshops and gave new opportunities for people to learn and share. Our wrap-up party celebrates this achievement, and gives attendees the opportunity to learn about our teachers, to pick up Alley Way Learning resources and to learn more about what’s in store for the project in the new year.

Whether you attended one of the Alley Way Learning Events or missed them but would like to find out more, you’re welcome to join the party. We couldn’t fit all of our amazing teachers into this event, but we will be showcasing their work and some of the tutors will be running stalls so you will get the chance to learn new things. We also have a mini art exhibition and stations for people to learn a new skill on their own or with their friends.

There will be four stalls run by our community teachers for you to learn a new skill, including: Hastings History, Chinese Calligraphy, Knot tying with one of our local fishermen and embroidery with Yemii from Stitch TLC.

There will also be an art exhibition space, speeches by the community-based steering group, and an opportunity to preview resources from each of our workshops and more.

The Wrap Party takes place on Tuesday 10 December from 1–4pm in the main hall at The Observer Building. Free teas and cakes will be available.

Please book your free ticket in advance via this link.
