Rise in cases puts Hastings and East Sussex in Tier 2

A new Covid regime comes into force when the national lockdown ends this week, with Hastings and the rest of East Sussex classified in Tier 2. Despite lockdown limits on activities the past month has seen an increase in the incidence of coronavirus in the town and the county. Nick Terdre reports.

Protest and petition against HBC’s bathing pool site scheme

Local community groups are planning a public protest against the large housing estate planned by the council on the old bathing pool site in West St Leonards next weekend, and will deliver a petition in support of their case to the Full Council meeting in mid December. Nick Terdre reports.

The Old Town’s much-loved Isabel Blackman Centre is being bought by a consortium of community groups. Emma Harwood brings us up to date on this good news.

Locally based charity having a global impact

This locally based charity – the Pestalozzi International Foundation – has evolved over the years and their alumni continue to have an impact around the world, as their Company Secretary, Stella Keen, reports.

ESCC urged to accept link between fossil fuels and climate change


Over 90 members of the public from across the country have called on East Sussex County Council (ESCC) to tell the truth about climate and fossil fuels, re-submitting three key questions on climate change to the ESCC Full Council meeting on 1 December. These same questions went unanswered at October’s Full Council meeting [1].
