ESCC debate on investment in fossil fuels

On Tuesday 15 October at County Hall in Lewes, East Sussex County Council is set to debate a petition [2] calling on the Council to stop funding climate change through its ongoing investments in fossil fuel (oil, coal & gas) companies. The debate will take place at the next Full Council meeting on 15 October – the same meeting at which the County Council is anticipated to declare a ‘climate emergency’ motion [3]. Greenway group supports ESCC climate emergency petition

Hastings Greenway Group has several events planned for the autumn, including campaigning for a petition calling on East Sussex County Council to declare a climate emergency. However the greenway walk planned for next Saturday has been cancelled. Nick Terdre reports.

Afghanistan: hidden voices from a forgotten war is a recent publication written by Councillor Maya Evans, launching in St Leonards on 8 October, 6-8pm, at the Open Café, 19 Grand Parade. A timely publication marking a war which has been forgotten, claiming the lives of 455 British Service personnel and 147,000 Afghans. A war to which Britain is still very much committed, redeploying 1,000 troops only last year.
