Gladedale gives notice of appeal
Gladedale has lodged notice that it will appeal against the planning committee’s refusal to grant permission for its application to redevelop the Archery Ground in St Leonards.
The news was confirmed by Karen Phillips, case officer at the council’s planning department, who said that the developer had applied to the Planning Inspectorate of the Department for Communities and Local Government for a full public inquiry.
The appeal will be heard probably some time in November, though the date has not been finally agreed with the Planning Inspectorate, Ms Phillips said.
Save The Archery Ground (Stag), the group which has led local opposition to Gladedale’s proposals, says it expects to be able to present its case in support of the council’s refusal and against the current proposals, and to call expert witnesses.
The hearing, which will probably be held at the Town Hall, could last for up to a week, according to Stag. Further information will be posted on its website (www.savethearcheryground.org) as it emerges.
