Danny Fishbone's Dainty Dinners

Danny Fishbone’s Dainty Dinners

Danny Fishbone’s dainty dinners

Puppet chef extraordinaire, Danny Fishbone, part of the Idolrich Theatre Company, gave a delicious performance last weekend – and is preparing himself, as all good chefs do, for another tantalising demonstration of his and his audience’s favourite dishes at the Stade on Sunday. Zelly Restorick asks artistic director Julia McLean about Danny’s forthcoming  appearance.

Puppet chef Danny Fishbone, accompanied in his dazzling display of culinary delights by his co-chef Chris P Batter, will be at your service at the Stade Hall once again this coming Sunday. Main course at 2pm, pudding 2.30-2.35. And there’s a workshop with Danny at 12 noon for children friends. All ages welcome.

“Don’t let it rot. Put it in the pot!”

“When you see Danny Fishbone, you will realise he is not like an ordinary chef with his milk bottle face, egg cup eyes and pasta mop of hair,” explains Julia, “but still, he has his personality like all of them. He gets his head in a twizzle quite often and his menu has something to be desired. However the Dishcloth Tarts have been relegated to obscurity from Sunday’s fare, due to customer feedback.

“The workshops are on the menu again next Sunday at the Stade Hall. Some wonderful platters were concocted last Sunday and parents along with children are invited at 12 midday to create a main and a dessert – just like Danny.

“The programme is supported by the Foreshore Trust with the intention of extending the Foreshore happenings out of season. The character and performance was created and directed by myself with music on the culinary orchestra from Chris Embury and puppeteers Orlando Bishop and Julian Rumball.

“Those lovely creatives who came last week to the White Rock are welcome to collect their creations for posterity.”
