Everyone can draw!

That’s EVERYONE! If you have any doubts, come to Hastings Arts Forum on Saturday or Sunday, October 21 or 22, from 10am to 4pm and give it a try, writes HOT reporter John Cole.

The Big Draw, initiated in 2000 by Quentin Blake, has become the biggest festival of drawing in the world. The festival is for families of any shape or size: children, parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles – really anyone who wants to be involved in a fabulously fun day of drawing, painting and generally making a mess. Everyone is invited, whether you’re a HAF member or not. And it’s FREE!

This year’s Big Draw theme is Living Lines. It really is open to a wide range of interpretations, whether you decide to get animated, theatrical, illusionary or just plain messy! There will also be a table set up to teach observational drawing, because whatever you’re creating in animation, it all begins with the drawing!

Come and experiment with a variety of exciting projects at the Arts Forum, using drawing to help create a shadow puppet, a spinning disc or the humble Flip-Book… really, anything you want to draw! There are no rules and no artistic requirements. In fact, the only requirement is to HAVE FUN!

The Big Draw at Hastings Arts Forum 12-13 October 2013

Professional artists, with Big Draw experience, will be on hand to encourage, help and inspire throughout the day and to assist in creating your own original artwork, which will be on display in the HAF galleries for a week.

All art materials will be provided on the day. All you need to bring is your enthusiasm and desire to have fun.

And have I said this already? It’s FREE!
