Preventing Plastic Pollution: big event!
If you want to find out about how to prevent plastic pollution on our beaches and rivers, this is the event to attend. The focus will be
- Marine plastic pollution
- The Rother catchment (rivers delivering inland litter to the sea)
- Community volunteering
- Networking
- Environmental awareness & education
“The ‘Love Our Rother’ event will bring together local, regional and national environmental organisations,” says Andy Dinsdale, Platinum Champion and a Points of Light Award winner and initiator of Strandliners, “including (at the time of writing) The Sussex Dolphin Project, The Environment Agency, Rother Voluntary Action, United Nations Association Climate & Oceans, The South East Rivers Trust, Marine Conservation Society, RSPCA Mallydams Wood, Sussex Wildlife Trust, Sussex Underwater, Rother District Council and Strandliners.
“The event will include a timetable of talks, short films, activities for all ages and a live litter survey showing how plastic pollution is recorded, and how we can all join in!
“Focused on the River Rother and its catchment, the aim of the day is to raise awareness of pollution in our marine and riverine environments, and to inspire people to become involved in community volunteering within the environmental sector – we can all make a difference.
“We encourage everyone to show some love to their environment, not just on Valentine’s Day, but all year round. Come along and find out what you can do.”
