FREE Wellbeing Day at Station Plaza

FREE Wellbeing Day at Station Plaza

FREE Wellbeing Day!

Come and meet local health and wellbeing groups including The Community Wellbeing Service, Health Trainers with INBODY machine, Home Works, Active Hastings, HARC, Educating Futures and Together Your Way. There will also be opportunities to speak to specialist agencies in areas including benefits, housing, debt and fuel poverty, carers’ support and volunteering.

The Wellbeing Day is designed to raise awareness of local services and opportunities that combat issues that contribute to mental health distress. The event will allow people to speak to and access directly both services and opportunities which cover issues impacting upon mental wellbeing and health, such as debt, poverty, education, lifestyle, long term unemployment and family crisis.

Organisers hope that the event will enable people to feel empowered and gain more insight to opportunities and support available to them. This event is the first of its kind to be held within a GP Surgery, so it is a very exciting step forward in the encouragement of self help and early intervention.

5 WAYS TO WELLBEING

5 WAYS TO WELLBEING

Health inequality

Reducing health inequality is a key priority of EAST SUSSEX BETTER TOGETHER, which aims to improve the health of local people. The Community Wellbeing Service supports patients referred to them by their GP, who have identified social or economic issues impacting upon their mental wellbeing.

The Social Prescribing Team work as an early intervention support service or in partnership with medication and psychological therapies.

“We work one to one with patients to support them access specialist services and enable them to put in place a wellbeing action plan”, says Wellbeing Coordinator, Tara Reddy. “Patients can also attend our daily walk in clinics 9-12 and evening clinics are held every Tuesday and Thursday 4-6:30 to facilitate working patients.

Following a successful pilot scheme we are now rolling out to other GP Surgeries around the Hastings Area and have taken on more Community Wellbeing Advisors to facilitate this.”

Please spread the word! Thank you!

Tara Reddy, Community Wellbeing Coordinator at Southdown Housing Association is heading a Social Prescribing Scheme funded by the Hastings and Rother Clinical Commissioning Group and ESCC Public Health in response to the Reducing Health and Inequalities Report.
