HVA Pop Up Hubs
Can you spare some of your free time?
Hastings Voluntary Action (HVA) would like to encourage more people to volunteer, and they have found that people often don’t know what opportunities are available or how to get involved. Matt Pitts, Group Support Worker writes.
In order to provide more information, HVA are now running regular pop-up sessions in Hastings Town Centre, based at Hastings Furniture Service’s pop up store in Priory Meadow. HVA staff will be on hand to talk with you and help you find volunteering opportunities that suit your skills, interests and goals. They will be promoting Volunteering Taster sessions – that just need a couple of hours of your time – and highlighting volunteering opportunities of the month.
During October, HVA staff will be at Hastings Furniture Service’s store in Priory Meadow at the following times:
Tuesdays: 2 – 4pm
Wednesdays: 12noon – 2pm
Plus – Saturday 12 October: 10am – 12noon.
Alternatively, you can find out about volunteering by contacting Hastings Voluntary Action on 01424 444010, or visiting www.hastingsvoluntaryaction.org.uk.
There are hundreds of things that people can do to help others in Hastings and the surrounding area. Volunteering can be fun, and you can make new friends. You can gain more skills, confidence and experience, and it can be a way for you to give something back to the community or make a big difference in someone’s life.
Naomi Ridley from Hastings Furniture Service added “We’re delighted to host HVA and encourage people to volunteer. Getting involved with local community groups can help you feel more connected to others, boost your skills and confidence, and help if you are looking for work. Good local charities like HFS need a team of dedicated volunteers; when we work together we can make a huge difference.”
