Meet: Thierry Alexandre
From: London and Hastings
Spotted On: The West Hill.
Thierry describes his style as androgynous, chichi high glam.
“I am not influenced by any individual look or person although I do like the work of Thierry Mugler, Andrew Logan and of course Dame Edna Everage!
I like to wear lots of things and put them together like a puzzle. Disco music sets the theme to a good outfit. My favourite item of clothing is my eight inch high heels.
I work as a costume based performance artist; I make wearable pieces of art. I have a studio at the Beacon Hastings and am currently working on a performance piece for Front Row South Coast at The De la Warr Pavilion on the 30 November. My outfit has a frame made by the brilliant local sculptor Leigh Dyer, and will be covered in shells and items I have beachcombed over the last three years. I shall also be covering myself in clay found in Fairlight.
If you’re not lucky enough to get tickets for the fashion show on the 30th, you can always come along and see my performance for free in the foyer. Also there will be lots of stalls selling vintage fashion, handmade items by local designers and much more. I can’t wait it’s very exciting.”
