Hot Style
Meet: HOT’S very own Erica Smith
From: St Leonards
Spotted outside: 1066 Cake Stand, Queens Road.
Erica describes her style as post punk eclectic.
“I generally like 1960s clothes. Most of the clothes I wear are vintage… but that’s often just because I have had them for years!
I am small so I have to be careful about what I wear. I like the things I wear to be practical for riding my bike, although I can wear any kind of shoes to ride my bike, including high heels. I’m wearing platform Rocket Dog flip flops today.
I am not scared of wearing colour and very bright lipstick cheers me up and cheers up the world!
I used to dye my hair every colour under the sun but now I really like being grey; if I want to change my hair colour I just put a colourful wig on.
I have not bought any clothes for ages because of the recession, and because I don’t really need any new clothes. Lots of people have given me clothes. I did buy a Floozie bra from Debenhams today – and I have bought a fair few things from there over the years, including this cardigan, about 10 years ago. The trousers I am wearing are from Millets. They are great because I can unzip them and make them into shorts.
My favourite item of clothing is my blue leather 60’s mod coat my friend Anna gave to me. It’s indestructible and is such a fabulous colour.
I am a graphic designer by trade and in my leisure time I like to go out and about writing for HOT! I also love reading and creating works of art. I enjoy the sunshine, hanging around in the street and riding my bike.”
