Energising energy event!
The Future of Energy in Hastings and Rother. You are invited to take part in an open table discussion on the Future of Energy in Hastings with key energy thinkers and innovators from across the UK. Go along, explore, chat, learn about new ideas and initiatives, wander, listen, see what’s happening around the town and how things could change if together, we create an energy vision, a new system of energy generation and storage for Hastings and St Leonards that makes common sense on a myriad of different levels, All welcome!
The Future of Energy
This event, organised by a collaboration between Energise Sussex Coast and Community Energy South, will take place on Friday 19 October from 1pm to 3pm at Sussex Coast College, Station Plaza in Hastings.
The discussions will be around three key themes.
Education
What will the future of energy look like and how should young people be educated to be able to influence and take their place in a green future.
Innovation
How can the transformation of the energy market and a smart grid improve housing, make transport more sustainable, reduce health inequalities and raise local incomes?
Vulnerability
How will innovation, education and a smarter grid help us address energy poverty and vulnerability? Can the changing energy market benefit the most vulnerable?

· Barbara Whiting, Head of Stakeholder Engagement for the south east gas network (SGN),
· Russell Smith, MD of Retrofit Works and Parity Projects
· Anthony Walters, South Staffordshire Community Energy group
· Professor Audley Genus, Professor of Innovation at Kingston University
· Jane Ollis, Kent Chair of the Institute of Directors and Director of Community Energy South.
· Jenny Young, head of Skills Strategy at The Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB)

Local businesses will showcase sustainable technologies to Hastings residents and visitors. Visit stands on energy advice and see demonstrations of renewable technologies at work.
11am: Mayor’s introduction
Mayor Nigel Sinden will introduce the successes of the CAN project.
11.30am: ENGIE workshop 1
For visitors and students looking to enter into a career in renewable technologies such as solar pc and air source heat pumps, renewable technology.
12.30pm: Lunch for delegates and visitors
1.30pm: Climate Integrated Solutions
Present their interim findings on the CAN Behaviour Change programme in the Ore Valley.
1.30pm: ENGIE workshop 2
2pm: Q-bot presentation
Come and see the exciting new robotic technology for underfloor insulation.
