Spread the LOVE on Bank Holiday Sunday
It’s been a while since Dan and Neil from Zeroh have held one of their amazing party nights, so they thought they’d throw a special one, with a purpose, and hold it on the Bank Holiday Sunday as Hastings celebrates its first full Pride weekend.
Neil says: “It’s 50 years since the partial decriminalisation of homosexuality in England. In acknowledgement of Hastings first Pride we present an independent event as a fund-raiser. It will just be us, some records, a little smoke and some lights for six hours of dancing to feel good disco and house music for global support for all those who still live in fear as we live with the privilege to celebrate Pride.”
Dan says: “It’s 2017 and homosexuality is still illegal in 72 countries… 8 UN member states carry the death penalty for same-sex activity. Chechnya is encouraging its citizens to wipe out the gay population of the country by any means. This is a fundraiser for the charity Rainbow Railroad (currently the only organization assisting those in need of help and support in Chechyna). ”
Rainbow Railroad is a registered charitable organization that provides support to LGBTQ individuals seeking a safe haven from state-sponsored or enabled violence. This includes airfare and financial support for travel related costs, including costs immediately before and after travel. Beyond direct financial assistance, Rainbow Railroad provides information and resources on how to make an asylum claim directly in safer countries or through the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) resettlement process.
