£117 raised at Boxing Day’s Spronkers competition — £18,883 to go!
Hastings Bonfire Society chairman Nick Lynas writes:
This year on 16th October we’ll be celebrating not only the foiling of the Gunpowder Plot but also our own 150th Anniversary. The great beach bonfire and procession are Hastings’ biggest free party, and we need to raise around £20,000 every year to pay for it. Many people think this is funded by HBC. We do acknowledge that without HBC’s help we would be hard pressed to put on the event, but financially they give only a small amount which is put towards the firework display. Any help with hitting our target for 2010 would be appreciated.
