Rain fails to quench bonfire spirits
As darkness fell on Saturday evening and the annual torchlight procession set off, it seemed that the heavy rain which had been falling since late afternoon would drown out the proceedings, or at least quench people’s spirits. However, bonfire society folk are made of sterner stuff, and although many got soaked and some torches were extinguished, in the end the rain ceased halfway through the procession, allowing all and sundry to enjoy the bonfire and fireworks display. HOT photographer Russell Jacobs kept his camera dry and documented the event.
