Use your loaf – learn how to make bread!
We may not live by bread alone, but a tasty loaf certainly makes life more palatable. Now expert advice on making your own bread is available at a new course tutored by Shelley Feldman of 1066 Cake Stand, as she explains.
If you have ever wondered what is in the bread you buy, or yearn for a simpler life baking your own, then we may have a little something for you.
This week sees the launch of a new bread club. Based at Broomgrove Community Centre in Ore, it is free and open to anyone, regardless of income.
The course will cover making healthy loaves, made without added sugar or fat, and show you how to get a good rise, texture and ‘bounce’ for your money before moving onto flavoured and enriched breads like seeded loaves and challah.
Bread Club will be running for four weeks, starting at noon on Thursday 15 January – if you want to sign up, call 01424 204136. The club has been arranged by Horizons Community Learning project, which has been providing free courses to the people of Hastings for over 10 years.
