To celebrate World Wood Day, Rupert Bozeat, a retired senior lecturer in furniture and product design, will teach beginners how to carve useful utensils like spoons and spatulas from soft, newly-felled hardwood.
Course members will learn how to cleave a log, split the wood into pieces, and then fashion the items.
The workshop is part of a Wood Weekend at the greenhouse, off St Helens Road, to highlight the sustainability of wood, rather than the use of plastic.
Tickets cost £60 from Eventbrite on the greenhouse website: www.our-greenhouse.org with a £5.71 booking fee.
