Orlando My Political Biography

Berlin Film Festival award-winning doc tells stories of transition through unique re-enactments and visual interpretations of Virginia Woolf’s Orlando: A Biography. With introduction from Dr Dickon Edwards.

Director: Paul B. Preciado

98 mins / 2024 / France, subtitles

From acclaimed writer and activist Paul B. Preciado, Orlando, My Political Biography is a bold and joyous celebration of trans and non-binary identity, told through the lens of Virginia Woolf’s iconic novel.

Woolf’s Orlando follows the centuries-spanning life of a young nobleman who awakens to find that they are a woman. Almost a century after its publication, Preciado claims that fiction has become reality and Orlando’s story lies at the root of all contemporary trans and non-binary life.

Told through a myriad of trans and non-binary voices living today – our new ‘Orlandos’ – this documentary offers a dazzling example of how life, poetry and gender can meet in search for truth.

Thursday morning screenings include a free cuppa with your ticket!

Also screening Friday 27th September at 7:30pm, which includes introduction from Dr Dickon Edwards
