Michel Gondry’s imaginative and unique take on heartbreak and how to try and erase it, showcases the talents of modern cinema’s stars with British actors Kate Winslet and Tom Wilkinson and US stars Jim Carrey, Mark Ruffalo and Kirsten Dunst. Jim Carrey pours his heart into a very affecting and probably his best non-impersonation performance.
In the film’s core, it’s a beautiful love story. It’s funny and poignant. The film’s premise is Kaufmann original, but it’s Gondry’s imaginative visualization of the process that puts in on another level. Celebrating its 20th anniversary with a beautiful 4K restoration, this is the perfect anti-Valentine’s film for the 21st century!
Joel falls for Clementine from the first moment they meet on a train. But after their bad break up, Clementine erases Joel from her memories, and when he finds out he decides to do the same to her. With the help of the three slacker technicians running the eraser machine, the once-cherished recollections of Clementine gradually fade away, giving way to a soulless black void.
