Claire Richardson: The Forgotten People Trinity Gallery, Hastings.
Claire Richardson, a Hastings based professional photographer, recently returned from a ten day trip to Uganda as a volunteer for the Quicken Trust, is exhibiting photographs at Trinity Gallery in Hastings.
Claire was based in the village of Kabubbu where the Quicken Trust initially began supporting local orphans in the year 2000. The charity is a Sussex derived education and community project with many of the Kabubbu children now sponsored from the UK.
Claire has visited Africa five times now and sponsors a young Kabubbu girl called Margaret. “Uganda, says Claire, is an incredibly beautiful country and like all of Africa, beginning to re-develop and open old links.”
Several of Claire’s Ugandan images have recently been short-listed for both the 2012 AOP Photographer Awards and also the Taylor Wessing National Portrait Competition.
To raise awareness for the Quicken Trust, Claire is exhibiting at Trinity Gallery, Hastings as part of the photo fringe event for the Brighton Photo Biennale. The exhibition will raise awareness for the charity, help links with Uganda and seek sponsors for more of the Kabubbu orphans.
