Glastonbury Tor

Glastonbury Tor

By John Knowles

The water tastes of rust
Menstrual blood
From this mother earth
Over which we process in
Diminishing circles
Till we reach the
Phallic tower Tor.
I began my death here once
Stung upon an apple
Like Adam
I died later too,
Saw the tunnel of light
But still have not
learnt to see
Nor drunk enough
To begin to be.
