The Writers’ Bloc
Soviet Russia, 1937. To deflect public attention away from his deadly purges, Joseph Stalin commissions a great book to be written. Five great writers are placed in a room with an infinite supply of vodka, cigarettes and fear. For each writer it is their last chance, and every word is loaded.
A fictional thriller based on the works of Yevgeny Zamyatin (We), Mikhail Bulgakov (The Master and Magherita), and Boris Pasternak (Dr Zhivago), The Writers’ Bloc mixes a tense blend of violence, comedy and physical theatre.
The play is a new work written by Luke O’Field and performed by Unmasked Theatre. Catch it now before it opens at Brighton Fringe!
The Writers’ Bloc, Kino Teatr in St Leonards on Sea, this Saturday (30 April) at 7.30pm. Tickets £16 (£15 concessions).
